Muhammadiyah Meets Saudi Ambassador, Supports Security for 2026 Hajj
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Muhammadiyah leaders met with the Saudi Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amudi, at the Saudi Embassy in Jakarta on Monday to support the security of the 2026 Hajj implementation.
“Muhammadiyah supports the guarantee of security for this year’s Hajj implementation,” said Muhammadiyah PP Chairman M. Sa’ad Ibrahim after the meeting.
Muhammadiyah believes that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is capable of ensuring the Hajj pilgrimage, he said during the meeting, which was also attended by LPHU PP Muhammadiyah Chairman M. Ziyad and LPHU PP Muhammadiyah Secretary Marjuki Al Jawiy.
Sa’ad also conveyed his hope that this year’s Hajj would proceed smoothly.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Faisal stated that Muhammadiyah and Saudi Arabia have very close and ongoing relations in various sectors, particularly educational cooperation.
Regarding the Hajj, the Saudi Ambassador reiterated that the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage would proceed safely and as planned, despite the geopolitical tensions engulfing the Middle East region.
“Alhamdulillah, preparations for the 2026 Hajj implementation are still on schedule and, Insya Allah, there will be no other changes. Alhamdulillah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains safe and stable,” he said.
On that occasion, Ambassador Faisal also outlined the latest developments in the Middle East crisis, particularly regarding the conflict involving Iran and the United States-Israel.
He assessed that the regional conflict would have widespread impacts, not only on the Gulf region but also on the world.
“The situation in the Middle East region impacts the global economy, including Indonesia’s economy,” he said.
Furthermore, he stated that Iran’s attacks on brotherly countries or neighbouring countries, particularly Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, other Gulf countries, and other Islamic countries, are unacceptable actions that are strongly rejected.
He viewed Iran’s call for Muslim countries to show solidarity as contradictory, given that Iran continues to launch attacks on its neighbouring countries, including Islamic ones.
“Moreover, Iran is asking Muslim countries to show solidarity while Iran continues to attack its neighbouring countries, Islamic countries,” said Ambassador Faisal.
