Muhammadiyah Depok Prepares 29 Locations for Eid Prayer on 20 March

The Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah has determined that 1 Shawwal 1447 AH falls on Friday, 20 March 2026. This determination of the beginning of Shawwal 1447 AH follows the decision of Muhammadiyah Tarjih’s 32nd National Deliberation on the Single Global Hijri Calendar (KHGT), as outlined in Circular Number 2/MLM/1.0/E/2025.

The Chairperson of Muhammadiyah’s Depok Regional Leadership, Ali Wartadinata, stated that in implementing the circular, they had prepared 29 locations for the performance of Eid al-Fitr prayers in 1447 AH. According to Ali, these prayer locations are spread across 11 sub-districts in Depok City and one area in Bogor Regency.

“The Depok City Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership has released 29 designated locations for Eid al-Fitr prayers in 1447 AH, along with the designated prayer leaders and organisers,” said Ali when contacted on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

Ali explained that various venues such as mosques, school grounds operated by Muhammadiyah, and open fields have been prepared to hold Eid prayers on 20 March 2026. “Public facilities and common areas such as Kukusan Football Field, HW Beji Timur Field, PSP Field, and stadiums are being utilised, as well as Muhammadiyah Elementary and Junior Secondary School Meruyung, for conducting Eid prayers,” said Ali.

Whilst Muhammadiyah has set 1 Shawwal for 20 March, the government has not yet decided when the beginning of Shawwal will fall. Should there be a discrepancy, Ali expressed hope that this matter would be handled wisely and with tolerance among the community.

Ali also expressed hope that the Eid al-Fitr prayers would proceed smoothly, fluently, devoutly and conducively. “Let us make Eid al-Fitr an opportunity for mutual visitation and building togetherness,” said Ali.

The 29 locations for Muhammadiyah Eid prayers in Depok are as follows:
