Muhammadiyah backs Aiman & Aisha, calling AI a guide for the Ummah in the information flood era
Republika, Jakarta – The national media Republika officially launched an Islam‑based artificial intelligence platform ‘Aiman & Aisha’ at a Grand Launching titled ‘When Faith Meets Technology’ at the National Library (Perpusnas) in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. Secretary of Muhammadiyah’s Central Leadership, Izzul Muslimin, who attended the event, expressed appreciation and support for the innovation initiated by Republika. He said the presence of AI grounded in Islamic values would make a positive contribution to da’wah and religious literacy in society. ‘We are very pleased to witness this extraordinary agenda. Inshallah it will provide positive value for our da’wah activities and at the same time give space to the public to obtain the best and most useful information,’ Izzul said in his remarks. According to him, the main challenge faced by the Ummah today is no longer the scarcity of information, but the flood of information that is not all true or accountable. In the past, he noted, people fell behind due to lack of information access. But now, those left behind are those who cannot sift and select information effectively. ‘In the current situation, when there is a flood of information, the problem is no longer the absence of information. Rather, those who cannot filter or obtain accurate information are the ones who fall behind. They can even become lost and end up in a situation that is not in line with what it should be,’ Izzul said. Therefore, the presence of ‘Aiman & Aisha’ as Islam-based AI is expected to be one of the solutions to help the public access credible references. The platform will also be connected to a wide range of religious information sites and sources.
