Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Minister for People’s Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, stated that the allocation from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) for social protection programmes has now reached Rp508.2 trillion.

He noted that this budget covers various social assistance programmes, including cash transfers, the Family Hope Programme (PKH), and contributions to the National Health Insurance (JKN).

“Today, our APBN has reached the figure of Rp508.2 trillion, which includes cash social assistance, PKH, and contributions for our national health insurance. In this context, energy subsidies are directed to be more targeted,” Muhaimin said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Furthermore, Muhaimin said that the government has designated 88 districts/cities as priorities for poverty eradication.

This step is aimed at supporting the target of eliminating extreme poverty to zero per cent by 2026, and reducing the poverty rate to five per cent by 2029.

In 2024, the poverty rate was recorded at 8.57 per cent, decreasing to 8.25 per cent in 2025. The government targets a further reduction to 7.36 per cent in 2026.

Meanwhile, the extreme poverty rate in 2024 was 0.99 per cent, falling to 0.78 per cent in 2025. The government targets extreme poverty to be at a maximum of 0.38 per cent this year and reach zero per cent by the end of 2026.

We are optimistic and confident that extreme poverty will be zero per cent in 2026, and poverty at five per cent in 2029.
