Muhaimin calls for cross-sector synergy to strengthen social protection

Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (Menko PM) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar has stressed the importance of cross-sector synergy and collaboration to implement social protection policies for the public. “Social protection cannot operate in silos. The Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment is here to orchestrate synergy between ministries, agencies, BPJS Kesehatan, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, regional governments, the business world, and service facilities, so that the public receives comprehensive protection,” said Menko Muhaimin Iskandar in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. He made the remarks while inspecting administrative services and several polyclinic services at Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar, Bali. At the hospital, he reviewed services for haemodialysis patients, the majority of whom are participants in the National Health Insurance (JKN) programme. There are currently 53 haemodialysis patients receiving regular therapy at the hospital. Menko Muhaimin ensured that services for chronic disease patients continue to run optimally, as haemodialysis therapy cannot be postponed without posing serious risks to patient safety. With health insurance for the public, especially the poor and vulnerable, he said, they are no longer burdened by high medical costs and can thus remain productive and safeguard their family’s welfare. “We want to ensure that the public does not lose access to healthcare services simply because of cost issues. The state is present through a robust social security system so that people can remain healthy, productive, and empowered,” said Menko Muhaimin Iskandar.
