Mugging on 'MV Kerinci'

Mugging on 'MV Kerinci'

From Kompas

On Dec. 4, I boarded the MV Kerinci for a voyage from Padang
to Tanjung Priok. At 9 a.m., a crew member named Harianto made a
forced entry into my cabin (number 6030, 1st class).

He locked the door and menaced me with a knife. However, I did
not relinquish my money and jewelry. The man also mistreated me.
I defended myself and cried for help, but no crew members came to
the rescue.

Although the man was taken into police custody at Tanjung
Priok harbor, PT Pelni did not pay any attention to my wounds and
bruises, as well as my depression, despite the fact that I
directly reported the case to the ship's captain, the branch
manager of PT Pelni Tanjung Priok and the board of directors of
PT Pelni on Jl. Gadjah Mada in Jakarta.

I appeal to the community, especially women, to take special
care when traveling on Pelni ships.
