Mudik traffic volume at Kalideres Terminal reported to have declined by 51 percent
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The head of Kalideres Terminal, Nur Prasetyo, stated that the volume of Lebaran mudik passengers at Kalideres Terminal in West Jakarta has declined by up to 51 percent compared to the Lebaran mudik in 2025.
“Yes, for passengers during the 2026 Lebaran transport period compared to last year, there was indeed a 51 percent decrease in departures,” said Pras when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday night.
Based on data gathered by ANTARA, on H-3 before Lebaran 2025, the number of departing passengers from Kalideres Terminal reached 6,115 people, on H-2 it was 3,634 people, and on H-1 it was 1,546 people.
Meanwhile, on H-3 before Lebaran 2026, the number of departing passengers from Kalideres Terminal was only 3,653 people, on H-2 it was 1,745 people, and on H-1 it was 940 people.
According to Pras, there are two factors causing the decline in the 2026 Lebaran mudik traffic volume at Kalideres Terminal.
“Besides the free mudik programme, it’s also because the holiday period is too short between Christmas and New Year and the Lebaran transport,” said Pras.
He also assessed that the sufficiently long holiday duration during Christmas and New Year has led the public to postpone their Lebaran holidays.
“During Nataru (Christmas and New Year) itself, we see the holidays were already quite long, and the short interval of only three months leads straight into Lebaran 2026. So, not many people need to mudik with their families in that time, three months, going home twice,” concluded Pras.
