Traffic flows on the Cipali Toll Road during Eid al-Fitr Lebaran day experienced a significant surge once again on Saturday (21/3/2026). In addition to causing slowdowns, the situation has led rest areas to implement an open-closed system.

Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications Dept Head of Astra Tol Cipali, Ardam Rafif Trisilo, stated that based on data from 00:00 to 19:00 WIB, approximately 44,000 vehicles passed through Cikopo towards Cirebon.

“That traffic volume increased by 37.6 percent compared to the volume at the same time yesterday,” said Ardam.

According to Ardam, on this Eid al-Fitr day, the mudik traffic towards Cirebon on the Cipali Toll Road was monitored as busy but smooth overall. He acknowledged slowdowns at several points.

Meanwhile, in the opposite direction, around 10,000 vehicles passed through Cikopo towards Jakarta. The return traffic to Jakarta was monitored as smooth.

“Overall, the traffic volume on the Cipali Toll Road was monitored to have increased significantly by 65.7 percent compared to the volume at the same time yesterday,” explained Ardam.

Ardam assessed that the traffic surge today is estimated to be the movement of people for family visits during the Eid al-Fitr moment. Along with the increasing number of visitors, an open-closed system is currently being implemented situationally at several rest areas in the Cirebon direction on the Cipali Toll Road.

Road users are urged to utilise rest areas wisely with a maximum rest duration of 30 minutes. “We urge road users to consider alternative rest places outside the nearest toll gates if the rest area parking capacity is full,” stated Ardam.

With the closed transaction system, toll fees remain the same even if road users exit and re-enter the toll road.
