Mudik Traffic Intensifies, Japek Toll Contraflow Expanded to Three Lanes

PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has implemented an expansion of contraflow lanes on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road (Japek). This expansion was carried out due to the increasing density of traffic on that toll road section during H-2 Lebaran.

JTT’s VP of Corporate Secretary & Legal, Ria Marlinda Paallo, supports the police’s discretion in adjusting traffic engineering. The contraflow lanes have now been increased from the previous two lanes to three lanes.

“The expansion of the contraflow lanes from the initial two lanes to three lanes is being applied from KM 48 to KM 66 towards Cikampek on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, starting on Thursday afternoon at 12:21 WIB,” she said, as quoted by Antara on Thursday (19/3/2026).

It is stated that this traffic engineering is an effort to reduce vehicle congestion and support the smooth flow of mudik traffic towards the eastern regions of Trans Java.

She said that the adjustment of the number of contraflow lanes was carried out situationally, taking into account the on-site traffic conditions.

“The expansion of contraflow to three lanes is part of anticipatory measures taken together with the police to maintain smooth traffic flow towards the east of Trans Java, especially today when there is a visible increase in public mobility ahead of Lebaran,” she said.

JTT, along with the Police and relevant parties, continues to intensively monitor traffic conditions and deploy personnel on the ground to ensure that traffic engineering runs safely and smoothly.

JTT urges all road users to always drive carefully, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and follow the instructions of on-site personnel and installed traffic signs.

Road users are also expected to ensure sufficient balance on their electronic money cards and prepare the condition of their vehicles and drivers before travelling to ensure the journey remains safe and comfortable until the destination.
