Mudik Traffic Congestion Prompts Contraflow Implementation on Japek Toll Road KM 55-65

JAKARTA - Vehicle volume surges during the Idulfitri 1447 H mudik period have become significantly noticeable. To alleviate congestion, PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has officially implemented traffic engineering in the form of contraflow on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road section, specifically from KM 55 to KM 65 towards Cikampek, on Sunday (22/3/2026) at 09:13 WIB. The application of this counterflow scheme aims to maintain the flow of vehicles and prevent stagnation at crucial points leading to Trans Java. VP Corporate Secretary and Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo Pihak, emphasised that the contraflow implementation is situational and based on police discretion. This arrangement will continue to be evaluated through visual monitoring via surveillance cameras (CCTV) and field officer reports to ensure that safety aspects remain the top priority. This mobility surge demands extra vigilance from road users. JTT urges all drivers to discipline themselves in obeying traffic signs and officer instructions, especially when changing lanes to the contraflow route. “Road users are expected to plan their journeys carefully, ensure optimal physical condition, and check vehicle roadworthiness before embarking on long trips to remain safe until reaching their destination,” added Ria.
