The mudik control post for sea transport at Tenau Port in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT), has recorded 24,617 mudik passengers passing through the port during the mudik period. Head of the Kupang Class III Port Authority and Harbour Master’s Office (KSOP), Simon B Baon, at Tenau Port on Monday, stated that this figure combines both passengers boarding and disembarking at the port. “From H-8 to H-1 before Eid al-Fitr, the number of mudik passengers reached 24,617,” he said. He added that on 21 March 2026, coinciding with Eid al-Fitr, approximately 7,561 mudik passengers crossed through Tenau Port in NTT. This breaks down to around 3,836 disembarking and 3,728 boarding. Compared to the same period last year, he noted, this year has seen an increase of hundreds of percent. The high number of mudik passengers at the port on Eid al-Fitr is due to many Christians taking advantage of the Eid holiday to travel home, as this year’s Eid coincides closely with the Easter holiday falling in early April. The mudik transport post at Tenau Port predicts that mudik and return flows through the port will continue to rise, as the return flow has not yet been recorded.
