Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that the Mudik to Jakarta programme has received a positive response from the public, as evidenced by the increased number of visits to several tourist destinations in the capital. “During the Idul Fitri period, the number of public visits to tourist destinations in Jakarta experienced a quite significant increase. The Monas area on 22–24 March was visited by 126,790 people, Ragunan Zoo by 222,991 visitors, and Ancol by around 155,000 visitors,” Pramono explained at City Hall on Wednesday. In addition, there was an increase in the number of public transport passengers during the free public transport period on 21–22 March. Pramono detailed that MRT usage reached 135,117 passengers, an increase of around 59 percent compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, LRT usage was recorded at 9,987 passengers, an increase of around six percent compared to the previous year. “This shows that the Mudik to Jakarta programme has received a very good response from the public,” Pramono said. Furthermore, Pramono stated that the programme is still ongoing until 31 March. The programme is also supported by various collaborators, such as Citilink, KAI, hotels, tourist destinations, shopping centres, and various promotional programmes. The programme carries the theme “Jakarta Lengang, Liburan dan Belanja Senang, Cuan Datang”. Pramono mentioned that the theme was chosen because he believes that although many Jakarta residents are mudik, the capital will still be bustling during the Lebaran holiday.
