The ‘Mudik to Jakarta’ programme initiated by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has proven to have a significant impact. Throughout the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri period, this policy not only increased the number of tourists but also triggered a surge in public transport usage in the capital.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the synergy between mobility policies and tourism attractions has created a positive trend for Jakarta’s economy.

“The Mudik to Jakarta programme not only drives economic movement but also significantly increases public transport usage,” said Pramono, quoted on Thursday (26/3).

This activity serves as a platform for maintaining ties while strengthening cohesion in running government operations.

Pramono mentioned that MRT usage reached 135,117 passengers, an increase of about 59% compared to last year. Meanwhile, LRT recorded 9,987 passengers, up by about 6%.

In the tourism sector, there was also a surge in visitors to several flagship destinations. The Monas area recorded 126,790 visitors, Ragunan 222,991 visitors, and Ancol around 155,000 visitors during the Lebaran holiday period.

“These figures show the high enthusiasm of the public to enjoy Jakarta as a tourist destination as well as a city of activity,” said Pramono.

According to him, this achievement is inseparable from cross-sector collaboration in the ‘Mudik to Jakarta’ programme, including support from the transportation and hospitality sectors.

“Up to before Lebaran, the transaction value of this programme reached around Rp21 trillion. We hope to exceed Rp25 trillion by 31 March,” he said.

He assessed that several regions also participated in this programme through promotional schemes. Some cities recorded quite large transactions, such as Semarang at around Rp8 billion and Surabaya at around Rp6.2 billion.

The DKI Provincial Government ensures that the increased mobility is balanced with optimal public services. “During the mudik period to Lebaran, public services ran well and there were no significant complaints from the public,” he said.

He emphasised that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to implement flexible work policies in line with central government directives. The work from office (WFO) and work from anywhere (WFA) schemes are still in place during the post-Eid transitional period.

“This arrangement aims to maintain the continuity of public services to run well. We ensure that services to the public are not disrupted despite work flexibility,” he said.

Governor Pramono further emphasised that Jakarta remains open to anyone who wants to come and work, while still considering individual readiness.

“Jakarta is open to anyone, but it must be balanced with readiness and capacity to work. We want everyone who comes to contribute positively,” he said.
