JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The government, through the Ministry of Transportation, has released the results of the transportation sector evaluation for the 2026 Eid Transport Period. This evaluation was delivered by Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi at the closing of the Central Eid Transport Post on Monday (30/3/2026).

In the evaluation, the Ministry of Transportation noted a decrease in the traffic accident rate compared to the 2025 Eid period. However, on the other hand, there was a decrease in mobility during the 2026 Eid period compared to the realised mobility of the 2025 Eid period.

Data from the post closing for the period 13–29 March 2026 shows that public mobility during the mudik and return flow periods reached 147.55 million people based on Mobile Positioning Data (MPD).

He added that, although there was a year-on-year decrease, this year’s movement realisation remained higher than the government’s initial estimate.

“However, we can state that as already conveyed at the beginning, although the survey showed a figure of 143.92 million people, the actual realisation saw an increase,” he explained.

All modes of transportation experienced increases. Road transport served 3.89 million passengers (up 11.64%), sea transport 2.02 million passengers (up 9.86%), and air transport 4.77 million passengers (up 6.97%).

The railway recorded 7.31 million passengers, an increase of 10.13%, while ferry transport had the highest growth with 5.52 million passengers, up 15.36%.
