Mudik Exodus Increases, One-Way Traffic System Implemented This Afternoon, Km 70 to Km 263
The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) has implemented the initial phase of one-way traffic management on the Trans Java toll road section on Tuesday (17 March 2026) afternoon. The policy was implemented following an increase in vehicle traffic heading towards the main mudik (homecoming) route.
Korlantas Polri Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho stated that one-way traffic management was being implemented in phases along the national corridor, starting from kilometre 70 to kilometre 263. This measure resulted from joint analysis with relevant ministries and toll road operators.
“We have observed an increase in traffic volume on the toll road heading towards Trans Java, so we will conduct socialisation of the first phase of one-way traffic from kilometre 70 to kilometre 263,” Agus said in a statement to media.
He explained that the increase in vehicle volume served as the basis for the traffic management decision. Coordination was conducted with stakeholders to ensure readiness for field implementation.
The implementation process began with socialisation to road users. Officers also conducted checks at various toll road sections and rest areas to ensure all routes were ready for use.
