Mud Makes Roads Slippery, Taxi Pool Project in South Tangerang Lacks Drainage
South Tangerang, Kompas.com - The Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang, Pilar Saga Ichsan, carried out a surprise inspection at a plot of land designated for the construction of the Green SM Taxi pool on Jalan Ciater Raya, Serua, Ciputat, South Tangerang (Tangsel), on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
The inspection was prompted by an incident where the road became slippery due to the flow of soil mud onto the main road from the pool construction project.
The mud flow temporarily disrupted traffic due to the slippery road conditions.
Based on observations by Kompas.com, Pilar arrived with his team and immediately met with the contractors involved in the cut-and-fill work.
He then engaged in discussions with the contractors and developers regarding the project’s impact on the surrounding environment, particularly concerning drainage and runoff water control.
During the occasion, Pilar stated that every development area must have its own drainage system and should not burden public road drainage.
“The external drainage was built by us for rainwater to prevent the road from flooding. But this area should have its own drainage,” said Pilar, who directly reprimanded the relevant parties at the site on Tuesday.
In the conversation, he, with his background as a contractor, said that drainage construction should be a priority before the main work is carried out.
Therefore, in a fairly firm tone, he requested the relevant parties to immediately excavate and repair the channels, even though the project has not fully commenced.
This was done as a form of responsibility towards the surrounding environment.
“It is the responsibility of the area and the developer to carry out arrangement and maintenance,” he said.
Pilar then walked around the land to check if the contractors and company had built any drainage during the construction process, with nil results.
Therefore, he asked the relevant parties to immediately create drainage so that soil mud from the project no longer flows onto the main road.
“With last night’s incident, I conveyed to the company that a environmental drainage channel must be built here for the project,” Pilar explained.
Meanwhile, Kompas.com has attempted to contact the contractor for the Green SM Taxi pool construction project, Chalid.
However, as of now, there has been no response.
