Muaro Jambi Police Net 137 Vehicles in Two Raids

Muaro Jambi Police have taken action against 137 motor vehicles in two night raids aimed at curbing street crime, motorcycle gang activity and illegal racing in the area.

Muaro Jambi Police Chief AKBP Bayu Noormansyah said the most recent raid ran from 11pm on Saturday to 1.30am on Sunday, netting 65 vehicles in Jambi Luar Kota district. The first operation took place on Tuesday night at the same location and resulted in 72 vehicles being taken off the road.

He said the enforcement was a police response to public complaints about reckless riding, illegal racing and the use of noisy exhausts. The raids targeted both motorcycles and cars suspected of failing to comply with regulations, with most of those caught being teenagers and young adults.

Officers also confiscated a number of noisy exhausts for destruction. Bayu said such exhausts not only disturb residents’ comfort and rest but also have the potential to trigger friction or disputes on the road.

He stressed that police would continue to respond to public complaints, particularly those concerning noisy exhausts, illegal racing and vehicle activity that could disrupt public order and security. He urged motorists to obey traffic rules, complete their vehicle documents, use safety equipment and refrain from illegal racing.
