Muara Enim Regent Suddenly Visits KPK Investigators After BPK Civil Servant Sting
Muara Enim Regent Edison and Cory Erin Hardi from PT Millenium Solusi Abadi unexpectedly visited investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday evening (10 June) during a sting operation against civil servants from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). According to monitoring, the detainee transport vehicle carrying Edison and Cory arrived at the KPK’s Red and White Building at 22:31 WIB. Both remained silent when asked about the purpose of their visit. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that Edison and Cory were to undergo questioning related to the sting operation involving BPK civil servants. “That is correct, to undergo questioning related to the hand-arrest operation for alleged bribery concerning the manipulation of BPK audit findings in the Muara Enim Regency Government,” Budi said via written message on Thursday (11 June). The KPK arrested five BPK civil servants in a sting operation in Jakarta on 9 and 10 June 2026. The covert operation was linked to alleged bribery related to BPK findings on several procurements within the Muara Enim Regency Government, South Sumatra Province. “The alleged bribe is related to BPK findings on procurement, one of which is the Smart TV we have previously explained in the Muara Enim case construction,” Budi stated on Wednesday (10 June). The five BPK civil servants were examined at the KPK until Wednesday evening. A press conference regarding the sting was planned for Thursday. Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation in Jakarta and South Sumatra from 6 to 8 June 2026 concerning alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services and the receipt of gratuities for the 2025-2026 fiscal year within the Muara Enim Regency Government. Out of ten people arrested, four were named as suspects: Muara Enim Regent Edison; 2026 Secretary of the Education and Culture Agency Abi Nurwardani; the regent’s trusted aide Adi Triyadi; and private sector party Cory Erin Hardi from PT Millenium Solusi Abadi. They were detained for an initial 20-day period from 9 June to 28 June 2026.
