Muara Enim Regent Officially Detained by KPK
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially detained Muara Enim Regent Edison and three other suspects involved in an alleged bribery and gratuity case. The initial detention period is set for 20 days.
Based on monitoring at the KPK’s Red and White Building, Edison and the others were already wearing the commission’s distinctive orange detainee vests with their hands cuffed. He was escorted to a detention vehicle at 4.21 p.m. Western Indonesian Time after completing intensive questioning following the sting operation conducted on 7 and 8 June 2026.
Edison remained silent when asked to confirm the alleged criminal acts he committed. Apart from him, the three other suspects also detained are the Secretary of the Education and Culture Office for 2026, Abi Nurwardani; a private party who is the regent’s nephew, Adi Triadi; and a representative from PT Millenium Solusi Abadi, Cory Erin Hardi.
From the covert operation, the KPK secured cash in rupiah, dollar, and riyal denominations totalling nearly Rp2 billion. The KPK is scheduled to hold a press conference on Tuesday afternoon (9/6) to announce the chronology of the sting operation and the complete construction of the case.
