Muara Enim Regent Now a Suspect in Two Cases for Allegedly Using Bribes to Pay Off BPK
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named suspended Muara Enim Regent Edison a suspect in an alleged bribery case involving employees of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). Edison is suspected of using bribe money he received from projects at the Education and Culture Agency to bribe BPK employees.
Edison was initially caught in a sting operation on Monday (8/6). The KPK subsequently named him a suspect on Tuesday (9/6). Besides Edison, the KPK also named three other individuals as suspects. The suspects are: 1. Muara Enim Regent Edison; 2. 2026 Secretary of the Education and Culture Agency, Abi Nurwardani; 3. The Regent’s nephew, Adi Triyadi; 4. Marketing representative of PT Millenium Solusi Abadi, Cory Erin Hardi.
The KPK suspects Edison received a Rp 500 million bribe from Cory. The bribe was allegedly received through Abi Nurwardani. The bribe was described as money to maintain ‘good relations’ because PT MSA, as a smart board supplier, had secured procurement projects from the Muara Enim Regency Government in 2025. Additionally, Abi also received deposits of money from other agency partners in Muara Enim. The KPK seized approximately Rp 1.9 billion in the case.
On Wednesday (10/6), the KPK conducted a sting operation against five BPK civil servants. The KPK stated that this sting was still related to the alleged bribery at the Muara Enim Regency Government. The KPK suspects the Muara Enim Regent gave bribes to the BPK regarding findings in the smart board procurement. “So far, this is related to covering up BPK findings related to procurement at the Muara Enim Regency Government, one of which is the smart TV procurement,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Building, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/6/2026).
The KPK later stated that evidence seized in the sting operation against BPK employees was still linked to the Rp 500 million allegedly given by private parties to the Muara Enim Regent. “This evidence also cross-checks with the previous case because from the Rp 500 million given by the private party to the regency government, part of it was taken by regency officials to Muara Enim, for which the arrest was made yesterday. Another part was for the alleged bribery related to the BPK findings,” Budi said.
The KPK mentioned the sting operation was conducted in several locations. Some were arrested in Jakarta and South Sumatra (Sumsel). “This is a series, including the security measures yesterday, there were arrests made, both in the Jakarta area and in South Sumatra,” he said.
Most recently, the KPK has named four people as suspects in the alleged bribery of BPK employees. One of them is Muara Enim Regent Edison. “Based on sufficient and valid preliminary evidence, the KPK has therefore named four people as suspects,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih building, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (11/6/2026). “Yes (one of them is Regent Edison). Two individuals are suspected givers and two others are suspected recipients,” Budi continued. The four suspects in this case are: 1. Edison as the Regent of Muara Enim; 2. Abi Nurwardani as the 2026 Secretary of the Education and Culture Agency (Sesdisdikbud); 3. Titin as a BPK civil servant; 4. Angga as a private party.
