Muara Enim Regent Named Suspect, KPK Seizes Rp2 Billion
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized nearly Rp2 billion during a sting operation (OTT) targeting the Regent of Muara Enim, Edison, and his associates, conducted in Jakarta and South Sumatra on 7-8 June. The seized funds have been used as evidence by the KPK to designate Edison as a suspect in a case involving alleged bribery related to several procurement projects within the Muara Enim Regency Government, as well as the receipt of gratifications.
“The team also secured evidence including cash in the form of Rupiah, Dollars, and Riyals, as well as several bank account balances, as these accounts were used to collect alleged payments made by private parties to officials within the Muara Enim Regency Government,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the commission’s office in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/6). “The total is nearly worth Rp2 billion.”
Based on the results of examinations and the case exposure conducted by the KPK on Monday (8/6) night, it was concluded that four individuals have been named as suspects, one of whom is Edison. “Among the four suspects, there are individuals from the state apparatus (Penyelenggara Negara) and the private sector,” said Budi.
According to information received, the three other suspects are the Secretary of the Department of Education and Culture for 2026, Abi Nurwardani; a private sector individual and the Regent’s nephew, Adi Triadi; and a representative from PT Millenium Solusi Abadi, Cory Erin Hardi. The KPK will hold a press conference to present the full chronology and construction of the case on Tuesday (9/6) afternoon.
