Muara Enim Regent Named Suspect for Receiving and Giving Bribes
Muara Enim Regent Edison now holds the status of a suspect for receiving and giving bribes. He was recently designated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as a suspect for bribing a party at the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) to condition the BPK’s findings on several procurements in the Muara Enim Regency Government.
“That is correct. So, later, because these are two related cases, they will cross over. There are two suspects who are the same from the previous case and the current case,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at his office in Jakarta, Thursday (11/6). “In the previous case, these two suspects were suspected of receiving bribes; in this case, they are suspected of giving them,” he continued.
Besides Edison, the other suspect referred to by Budi is the Secretary of the Education and Culture Office for the year 2026, Abi Nurwardani. Meanwhile, the suspected bribe recipients are Titin, a BPK Civil Servant, and a private party named Augus Dwianggara, also known as Angga. The latter is believed to be a confidant of a BPK Member V with the initials BAR.
“The suspects have currently finished their examinations and have been moved to be detained at the KPK Detention Centre Branch in the Merah Putih Building,” said Budi.
The case is still connected to a sting operation conducted by the KPK in the Jakarta and South Sumatra regions on 6-8 June 2026, related to suspected bribery in the procurement of goods and services and the receipt of gratuities for the 2025-2026 fiscal year within the Muara Enim Regency Government. Of the 10 people arrested, four have been named as suspects. The rest remain as witnesses.
The designated suspects are Muara Enim Regent Edison; Secretary of the Education and Culture Office for 2026, Abi Nurwardani; the regent’s confidant, Adi Triyadi; and a private party from PT Millenium Solusi Abadi (PT MSA), Cory Erin Hardi. They have been detained for an initial 20 days starting from 9 June to 28 June 2026.
In this case, Edison and Abi are suspected of receiving bribes from Cory. Some of the money received was subsequently used to bribe parties at the BPK to condition the BPK’s findings on procurements carried out by the Muara Enim Regency Government. “One of them is the procurement of smart TVs or smart boards, which was previously procured by the private party at the Education and Culture Office,” explained Budi.
The KPK will hold a press conference this Thursday afternoon to convey the details of the arrest chronology and the full construction of the case implicating parties at the BPK.
