The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined the non-active Regent of Muara Enim, Edison, a suspect in an ongoing case. Regent Edison was questioned after the KPK ensnared five Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) employees in a sting operation related to an alleged bribery case within the Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) of Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that in addition to Edison, investigators also questioned a suspect from the private sector, Cory Erin Hardi, a marketing representative for PT Millenium Solusi Abadi. Budi confirmed that Cory was also examined in connection with the sting operation targeting BPK officials.

“Correct, to undergo an examination related to a sting operation concerning alleged bribery for the arrangement of BPK audit findings within the Muara Enim Regency Government,” Budi explained to journalists on Thursday (11/6/2026).

A total of five civil servants from the BPK were caught in the KPK operation as part of the continued investigation into the case implicating Muara Enim Regent Edison. The KPK indicated that this operation relates to the procurement of a smart board project in Muara Enim.

“So far, it is related to efforts to cover up BPK findings concerning procurement within the Muara Enim Regency Government, one of which involves the smart TV procurement,” Budi added.

This sting operation is a continuation of an earlier action taken against Muara Enim Regent Edison. The KPK clarified that bribes were allegedly provided by the Muara Enim Regency Government to parties within the BPK.

The KPK has not yet detailed the identities of the BPK civil servants caught in the operation. The commission has 1x24 hours to determine their legal status.

In this case, the KPK has detained four individuals after they were named suspects. Besides Muara Enim Regent Edison, three other parties have been named suspects and detained, namely:

  1. Abi Nurwardani, Secretary of the Education and Culture Office for 2026.

  2. Adi Triyadi, the Regent’s nephew.

  3. Cory Erin Hardi, Marketing representative for PT Millenium Solusi Abadi.

The KPK has charged Edison, Abi, and Adi under Article 12 letter a and/or Article 12 letter b and/or Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption.

Meanwhile, Cory, as a private sector party, is charged under Article 605 letter a and/or Article 605 letter b of Law Number 1 of 2026.

The KPK has detained the suspects for an initial period of 20 days, from 9 to 28 June 2026. The detention is being carried out at the KPK’s Red and White Building Branch of the State Detention Centre.
