Muara Enim Regent Edison Named Bribery Suspect
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the Regent of Muara Enim, Edison, along with three others, as suspects in an alleged bribery case related to procurement within the Muara Enim Regency Government, South Sumatra.
“It is true, one of them is the Regent,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.
In addition to Edison, Budi noted that the three other individuals designated as suspects by the KPK consist of parties from both the government and the private sector. He explained that the designation of these four individuals as suspects was based on the sufficiency of evidence obtained by the KPK.
“For the details, we will present them later in a press conference scheduled for this afternoon, including the identities of the suspects and the construction of the case,” he said.
Previously, on Monday, 8 June, the KPK announced the arrest of ten individuals during a sting operation (OTT) across South Sumatra and Jakarta, comprising five officials from the Muara Enim Regency Government and five private sector representatives. The KPK also confirmed that Edison was among the ten individuals apprehended. Edison was arrested in South Sumatra and transported to Jakarta by the KPK on Tuesday, 9 June. This sting operation marks the twelfth such operation conducted by the KPK during 2026.
