Muara Enim Regent Edison Arrives at KPK Headquarters Following Sting Operation

The Regent of Muara Enim, Edison, arrived at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, the Regent was escorted by investigators into the building. He was observed wearing a blue shirt and a white mask, declining to respond to questions from journalists as he entered the premises.

The KPK previously conducted a case exposure regarding the sting operation (OTT) involving Edison. The commission has officially moved the case to the investigation stage and designated suspects.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that the case was elevated to the investigation stage based on sufficient preliminary evidence obtained during a closed investigation in the South Sumatra region. “Based on the sufficiency of the preliminary evidence obtained, it has been decided that this case will proceed to the investigation stage, to subsequently designate the parties involved as suspects,” Budi stated.

A total of ten people, including Edison, were detained during the operation, which commenced on Sunday night. The group includes five individuals from the Muara Enim Regency Government, including the Regent, and five individuals from the private sector. The KPK has also seized hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash as evidence, as the sting operation is linked to allegations of bribery involving private parties.
