Muara Enim Regent Edison Allegedly Caught in KPK Sting Operation for Receiving Private Sector Bribes
The Corruption Eradancy Commission (KPK) has conducted a sting operation (OTT) against the Regent of Muara Enim, Edison. The operation is related to the alleged receipt of bribes from the private sector.
“Regarding the alleged receipt by a state official from a private party,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Monday (8/6/2026).
“This concerns procurement processes within the scope of the Muara Enim Regency Government,” he added.
The KPK arrested ten individuals, including Regent Edison. Those caught in the sting operation consist of five individuals from the Muara Enim Regency Government and five from the private sector.
Budi has not yet disclosed the identities of those detained. The KPK is currently conducting a series of interrogations of the individuals taken into custody.
“Five people from the Muara Enim Regency Government, one of whom is the Regent. The other five are from the private sector,” he said.
The parties caught in the sting operation currently hold the status of witnesses. The KPK has 24 hours to officially announce the legal status of those detained.
