Muara Enim Regent Detained, KPK Seizes Rp1.9 Billion
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Muara Enim Regent Edison a suspect in an alleged bribery case related to project procurement, along with three other individuals. The decision was taken after the KPK gathered sufficient evidence. Edison was initially caught in a sting operation a day earlier alongside the other suspects. He was subsequently taken to the KPK for questioning and ultimately detained today. “Based on the sufficiency of evidence in the alleged corruption offence involving gratuities to a public official within the Muara Enim Regency Government for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, the KPK has elevated this case to the investigation stage and named four suspects,” said Acting KPK Director of Investigations Achmad Taufik Husein on Tuesday (9/6/2026). The four suspects are Edison, serving as Regent of Muara Enim for the 2025-2030 period; Abi Nurwardani, Secretary of the Education and Culture Office for 2026; Ado Triyadi, a trusted aide and nephew of Edison; and Cory Erin Hardi, a private party from PT Millenium Solusi Abadi. “The KPK has subsequently detained the suspects for an initial 20-day period from 9 to 28 June 2026. The detention is being carried out at the State Detention Centre branch of the KPK’s Red and White Building,” Taufik stated. In this case, the KPK secured evidence including cash in rupiah and foreign currencies, bank account balances, and electronic evidence totalling approximately Rp1.9 billion. The breakdown includes Rp323 million in cash seized from Abi Nurwardani’s backpack, Rp40 million along with USD 3,200 and SAR 2,260 taken from a safe at Abi Nurwardani’s house. “As well as bank balances from several accounts amounting to Rp1.47 billion,” Taufik added. For their actions, Edison, Abi Nurwardani, and Ado Triyadi are suspected of violating Article 12 letter a and/or Article 12 letter b and/or Article 12B of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption and/or Article 606 paragraph (2) of Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. Meanwhile, Cory Erin Hardi is suspected of violating Article 605 letter a and/or Article 605 letter b of Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments and/or Article 606 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
