Muara Enim Regent Allegedly Received 5% Kickback in Procurement Corruption Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed the share allegedly received by Muara Enim Regent Edison (EDS) in a bribery case related to the procurement of smart boards at the Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud). The KPK stated that Regent Edison received a five per cent cut from every sum of money funnelled through holding accounts.
Initially, KPK Director of Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein revealed that the Muara Enim Regency Disdikbud Secretary Abi Nurwardani received Rp 500 million from Cory Erin Hardi, a marketing representative of PT MSA. The money was given to maintain ‘good relations’ between PT MSA and the Muara Enim Regency Government, while PT MSA also hoped to win future projects in Muara Enim.
Taufik further stated that Edison is suspected of frequently receiving money deposits from other business partners, with these bribes again being received through Abi. The alleged bribery is suspected to exist beyond the Education Office alone.
“In addition to the receipt of the said money, ABN, under the instruction of Saudara EDS as Regent of Muara Enim for the 2025-2030 period, is also suspected of receiving deposits of money from business partners within the Muara Enim Regency Government, allegedly not only at the Education Office,” Taufik said.
According to Taufik, to disguise the flow of funds from business partners, the parties used a method of opening and closing nominee accounts or delivering cash deposits.
“Subsequently, for these nominee accounts, ABN acted as the account controller. ABN is suspected of distributing the flow of money with certain percentages, namely five per cent for the Regent, three per cent for the head of department, and one per cent for the commitment-making official and treasurer,” he revealed.
The withdrawal of Edison’s ‘cut’ was allegedly carried out by his nephew. It is known that Edison’s nephew, Adi Triyadi (AD), has also been named a suspect by the KPK.
“In the 2025-2026 period, the handover of money to EDS was carried out by means of cash withdrawals from the nominees’ accounts through Saudara RDS to Saudara AD as a confidant and relative of EDS. The money received was used for EDS’s personal needs,” he explained.
The four parties who have been named as suspects in this case are:
Muara Enim Regent - Edison
Secretary of the Education and Culture Office for 2026 - Abi Nurwardani
The Regent’s nephew - Adi Triyadi
Marketing representative of PT Millenium Solusi Abadi - Cory Erin Hardi
The KPK has charged Edison, Abi, and Adi under Article 12 letter a and/or Article 12 letter b and/or Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
Meanwhile, Cory, as a private sector party, has been charged under Article 605 letter a and/or Article 605 letter b of Law Number 1 of 2026.
The KPK has detained the suspects for the first 20 days, from 9 to 28 June 2026. The detention is being carried out at the KPK’s Red and White Building Branch Detention Centre.
