Muara Enim Regent Allegedly Received 5% Kickback from Contractors

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects Muara Enim Regent Edison received a five per cent cut from every contractor payment within the Muara Enim Regency Government, South Sumatra Province.

According to Acting KPK Director of Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein, contractors sent payments to several holding accounts registered under other people’s names, or nominees.

Taufik stated that Abi Nurwardani, Secretary of the Muara Enim Education and Culture Office, acted as the controller of these accounts and subsequently distributed the payments to multiple parties, including Edison.

“Abi Nurwardani allegedly distributed the flow of money with specific percentages: five per cent for the Regent, three per cent for department heads, and one per cent for commitment-making officials and treasurers,” he told reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building on Wednesday, 10 June 2026.

According to him, an individual with the initials RDS later withdrew money from the nominee account used by Abi to distribute the share intended for Edison. He stated that RDS subsequently handed the money over to Edison’s confidant, Adi Triyadi.

“Adi Triyadi serves as both a confidant and a relative of Edison. The money received was used for Edison’s personal needs,” he said.

On 8 June 2026, the KPK announced the arrest of ten individuals—five in Jakarta and five in South Sumatra. Among those caught in the KPK’s 12th sting operation of 2026 was Muara Enim Regent Edison.

On 9 June 2026, the KPK named four suspects in an alleged bribery case pertaining to the procurement of goods and services, as well as other receipts, within the Muara Enim Regency Government for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The four suspects in the case are Edison, Abi Nurwardani, PT Millenium Solusi Abadi marketing employee Cory Erin Hardi, and Edison’s nephew, Adi Triyadi.
