A member of the Muara Enim district council with the initials KT and his son RA have been caught in a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office. The pair were apprehended in connection with a case involving the Ataran Air Lemutu Irrigation Network Development project in Tanjung Agung subdistrict.

Prosecutors stated that the alleged gratification money totalling Rp 1.6 billion was received by the suspects and allegedly used to purchase a luxury Toyota Alphard vehicle.

“After receiving gratification money amounting to Rp 1.6 billion, this Muara Enim councillor immediately purchased a white Toyota Alphard with registration plate B-2451-KYR,” said Head of the South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office Ketut Sumedana on Thursday (19 February 2026).

Ketut revealed that investigators carried out the sting operation against both suspects on Wednesday (18 February 2026).

“We secured them on 18 February 2026. Both individuals — KT, a member of the Muara Enim district council, and RA, KT’s child — were designated as suspects after twenty-four hours,” he said.

The sting operation related to the alleged receipt of gifts or promises in connection with the Ataran Air Lemutu Irrigation Network Development project in Tanjung Agung subdistrict, Muara Enim regency. The project, which falls under the Muara Enim regency’s Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR), has a contract value of approximately Rp 7 billion.

According to Ketut, the Rp 1.6 billion allegedly originated from a business operator or project partner in connection with the disbursement of advance payments for the project. As a result, the project reportedly failed to proceed as intended.
