The Investigation Team of the South Sumatra High Prosecution Office carried out a sting operation (OTT) against a Muara Enim Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) member with the initials KT and his son, RA, on Wednesday (18 February).

Head of the South Sumatra High Prosecution Office, Ketut Sumedana, stated that the operation was conducted in connection with the alleged receipt of gifts or gratification promises related to the Ataran Air Lemutu Irrigation Network Development project in Tanjung Agung sub-district, Muara Enim regency.

“That is correct — today, 18 February 2026, the Investigation Team of the South Sumatra High Prosecution Office carried out a sting operation in Muara Enim, arresting two individuals with the initials KT, a member of the Muara Enim DPRD, and RA, the son of KT,” he said.

Ketut revealed that the pair were suspected of receiving approximately Rp1.6 billion from a business figure or project contractor.

“The money is connected to the disbursement of an advance payment for the Ataran Air Lemutu Irrigation Network Development project under the Muara Enim Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR). As a result, the project has not progressed,” he explained.

The project has a contract value of approximately Rp7 billion. Based on preliminary examinations of 10 witnesses, the Rp1.6 billion is suspected to have been used to purchase a luxury vehicle.

“In addition to arresting the father and son, investigators also conducted searches at three separate locations in the Muara Enim area — two houses belonging to KT at the Greencity Simple Housing Complex, Blocks Q5 and Q6, Muara Lawai village, as well as one house belonging to witness MH on Jalan Pramuka 4, RT 1 RW 7, Pasar II sub-district, Muara Enim district,” he explained.

During the searches, investigators seized a white Toyota Alphard with registration number B-2451-KYR, a number of documents, mobile phones, and correspondence deemed relevant to the case.

“In this case, investigators have examined 10 witnesses and are continuing to develop the investigation,” he concluded.
