Muara Angke Residents Request Fire Extinguishers to Mitigate Coastal Fire Risks
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A number of residents of Muara Angke, North Jakarta, have requested support in the form of light fire extinguishers (APAR) to prevent the risk of fires in the coastal area. “Residents are proposing support for light fire extinguishers given the high risk of fires in the coastal area,” said fishermen’s representative Sini during the Jaga Jakarta On The Spot activity with residents of RW 01 Pelabuhan Muara Angke at the Kaliadem Embankment area, RT 06/RW 01, Pelabuhan Muara Angke, North Jakarta, on Wednesday. The activity was held by the Tanjung Priok Port Police in support of the Jaga Jakarta, Jaga Lingkungan, and Jaga Amanah Programme initiated by the Metro Jaya Police Chief. In a cordial atmosphere, residents were given the opportunity to voice various aspirations and problems faced in their neighbourhood, ranging from the need for additional surveillance cameras (CCTV), anti-brawl monitoring posts, area security, to the anticipation of theft and fire hazards. Meanwhile, Head of RT 06 RW 01, Anwar, appreciated the swift response of the police to various community reports. He also expressed hope for assistance in maintaining the security of the surrounds. “We are also proposing the addition of CCTV and environmental security support facilities to prevent criminal acts,” said Anwar. Responding to the various inputs, Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief AKBP Aris Wibowo emphasised the importance of collaboration between the community and security forces in maintaining a safe and conducive public order situation. “Community participation greatly influences the security of their own area. The police cannot work alone. Therefore, we are here to directly listen to residents’ needs and find solutions together,” said Aris. Regarding the prevalence of brawls and criminality, Aris urged the public not to hesitate to report any potential security disturbances through the 110 emergency service. On that occasion, he explained that the phenomenon of brawls involving teenagers today is often triggered by the desire to create content on social media. Therefore, an active role is needed from families, community leaders, and local authorities to supervise and guide the younger generation. As a form of education to the public, a simulation and testing of the 110 Call Centre service was also carried out, directly involving Muara Angke residents. Through the Jaga Jakarta On The Spot activity, the Tanjung Priok Port Police hope to further strengthen relations with the community, absorb aspirations directly, and reinforce synergy in maintaining security and order in the North Jakarta coastal area. “Environmental security is a shared responsibility. With good communication between residents and the police, we can realise a safe, comfortable, and conducive Muara Angke,” Aris stated.
