MT Gamkonora Transports 450,000 Barrels of Algerian Crude Oil to Indonesia
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is strengthening national energy security through reliable and integrated supply management. This effort is underscored by the arrival of the MT Gamkonora tanker, which is transporting approximately 450,000 barrels of crude oil to support domestic energy needs. The vessel is scheduled to arrive soon in Cilacap, Central Java, after completing its journey from Arzew, Algeria. The crude oil supply carried by MT Gamkonora will play a crucial role in maintaining the availability of feedstock for the national refinery’s operations. The shipment is expected to support the continuity of fuel production to meet the energy needs of the public, the industrial sector, and various economic activities across Indonesia.
Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Roberth M.V. Dumatubun stated that the arrival of MT Gamkonora is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to ensure national energy supply remains secure amidst the evolving dynamics of the global energy industry. ‘Pertamina Patra Niaga is continuously committed to maintaining the reliability of national energy supply through planned and integrated supply chain management. The arrival of MT Gamkonora is a strategic step to strengthen domestic energy stock availability while supporting national refinery operations so that the community’s energy needs can be met properly,’ Roberth said in a written statement on Monday.
MT Gamkonora previously departed from Arzew, Algeria, on 14 May 2026 before continuing its voyage to Indonesia. Throughout the journey, the vessel’s operations were continuously monitored to ensure cargo security, shipping safety, and timely arrival. Integrated supervision was carried out to maintain the reliability of energy distribution from the point of origin to the destination. Pertamina Patra Niaga has undertaken various operational preparations to ensure the cargo reception process runs smoothly. These preparations include coordination with terminal operators, port authorities, relevant agencies, and all parties involved in the unloading and subsequent distribution process. This step is taken to ensure the crude oil supply can be immediately channelled according to the refinery’s operational needs.
According to Roberth, readiness in receiving strategic energy supplies is a key factor in maintaining national energy security.
