Mt. Bromo fire extinguished

SURABAYA: Firefighters and locals have put out a fire which razed hundreds of hectares of forest on Mt. Bromo, Antara said yesterday.

The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park administration office is still estimating the extent of damage, an office staffer, Ridwan, told the news agency.

The national park covers an area of 50,000 hectares.

The fire was concentrated on Kepolo and Kususan mountains at an altitude of 2,309 meters. (emb)
