JAKARTA — While several parties have highlighted access to financing for ultra-micro businesses, one aspect has been overlooked: capital is not the only requirement for growth. Many home-based businesses actually possess a high degree of resilience, with promising products and even open markets. However, without access to knowledge, networks, confidence, and the right mentoring, many of these ventures stall. This is why PNM’s Mekaarpreneur programme remains relevant.

The programme is not just about funding; it also considers how ultra-micro entrepreneurs can be assisted to move up through a more targeted business incubation process. It includes learning, strengthening of entrepreneurial mindset, product development, and strategies for viewing market opportunities more broadly.

Results are starting to be tangible. Yuliana Dewi Putri is one who has felt the benefits. Her Putri herbal drink product has become more established after taking part in various trainings and business incubation in the Mekaarpreneur programme, and she has emerged as the winner of first place in the Bekasi–Jakarta region.

“I gained a lot of knowledge, made friends and had an extraordinary experience. I was taught how to brand products and engage in digital marketing. My product can also collaborate with other colleagues,” said Yuliana in a press release in Jakarta on Thursday, 21 May 2026.
