Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman has confirmed that there will be no increase in any fees charged to sellers on ecommerce platforms in the near future. This assurance is the result of an agreement between the government and a number of ecommerce platforms as part of efforts to maintain economic justice and the competitiveness of MSME players.

According to him, the policy pursued continues to refer to the President’s directive to deliver economic justice for all levels of business actors. ‘In the ecommerce ecosystem, our agreement, the government, and also the ecommerce platforms continues under the broad policy outline of the President, namely economic justice. That is the grand narrative commanded by the President to us, to help him ensure that the government’s presence must provide economic justice for everyone,’ Maman told the media at the Ministry of MSMEs Office on Wednesday (1/7/2026).

He stressed that the principle of economic justice applies to all business actors, from large corporations to micro and super micro enterprises. Therefore, the government wants to ensure that the policies adopted can provide protection while enhancing the competitiveness of MSMEs selling on digital platforms. ‘For everyone. Whether at the upper, large, medium, small, and micro levels, even down to super micro. This means the narrative of economic justice must be implemented and executed. One concrete form is the protection and improvement of competitiveness for micro and small businesses in the ecommerce ecosystem,’ he said.

As a follow-up, Maman revealed that the Ministry of MSMEs had summoned several ecommerce companies. In the meeting, all platforms agreed to postpone plans to increase commissions or other policies that could potentially burden sellers. ‘Well, yesterday we called in several ecommerce platforms, and the ecommerce platforms agreed that regarding some of their plans to increase fees and so forth, those are to be stopped first,’ said Maman.

He added that the mitigation process for the policy has also been followed up by the Ministry of MSMEs so that all parties now have a mutual understanding to postpone the plan. Currently, the Ministry of MSMEs, together with major ecommerce platforms—namely Tokopedia, TikTok Shop, Shopee, Lazada, and Blibli—is preparing system integration with the Sapa UMKM platform. The integration is targeted to be accelerated for immediate implementation.

Previously, TikTok Shop was reported to have raised a fee called the ‘Dynamic Commission Fee’. This new charge was imposed on sellers starting 18 May 2026. The highest increase occurred in the upper limit set per product transaction. In TikTok Shop’s simulation, the commission on a laptop priced at Rp20 million would increase even though the percentage remained unchanged at 4%. For comparison, TikTok Shop previously set a maximum commission fee of Rp40,000 per product. Now, the limit has increased to Rp650,000 per unit. So, previously, a laptop sale of Rp20 million was capped at a maximum fee of Rp40,000, even though the commission percentage should have been Rp800,000. Under the new rules, it becomes Rp650,000. TikTok Shop also increased the percentage rates for several product categories. For instance, fees on beauty and body care products as well as maternity and baby items rose from 4% to 7%. Other increases include office equipment and supplies from 4% to 8%, shoes from 5% to 8%, and children’s clothing from 4% to 7.5%. However, commissions for phone and electronics products decreased to 3% from the previous 4%. The computer and office equipment category saw no change. The rate increases also apply to all merchants on Tokopedia that have integrated with TikTok Shop.
