MSME Financial Literacy Continues to Be Strengthened
Efforts to expand access to financing while simultaneously increasing financial literacy for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are being continuously pursued through various education and mentoring programmes in Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.
One such activity was organised by the digital funding platform PinjamDuit (PT Stanford Teknologi Indonesia), which included visits to business owners, financial education seminars, and coordination with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
The activity began with visits to several MSMEs in Sleman to observe production processes firsthand and identify the various challenges faced by business owners. During these visits, focus was placed on supply chain issues and the need for working capital to support business development.
As the main agenda, a seminar on financial inclusion was held, discussing business financial management and the utilisation of the digital ecosystem for MSMEs. The event was attended by dozens of entrepreneurs from various sectors, including culinary, crafts, fashion, and services.
Through the seminar, participants gained an understanding of how to utilise productive and legal fintech-based financing services that have obtained OJK permits to support sustainable business capacity building.
Vivi Linda, Head of Commercial and Relation at PinjamDuit, noted that Sleman possesses great potential as a growing hub for creative and craft businesses capable of competing in the international market.
“We are present not only to open access to flexible capital but also to ensure that MSME players possess strong financial literacy so they can manage their business cash flows healthily and avoid illegal platforms,” she stated on Wednesday.
The series of activities concluded with a visit to the OJK Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This step was taken as a form of the company’s commitment to regulatory compliance and to strengthen synergy with the financial literacy programmes implemented by the regulator at the regional level.
Through this initiative, PinjamDuit hopes to help narrow the credit gap for MSMEs, while also supporting business owners to be better prepared for the challenges and opportunities within the developing digital economy.
