MSME Credit Program Supports 12 Million Jobs by October 2026
Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Ferry Irawan, Deputy for Coordination of State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) Business Management and Development at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, said government programme lending to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) had supported around 12 million jobs by October 2026.
The estimate is based on 4.2 million programme-loan borrowers, with each borrower expected to support three to four workers.
“So, each borrower accounts for roughly three to four workers. We have 4.2 million borrowers as of October; multiplied by three or four, that amounts to around 12 million jobs supported,” Ferry said at the International Forum for Government Programme Credit in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali, on Thursday.
He said the impact of programme lending was evident not only in employment, but also in higher incomes and improved welfare for business owners’ families.
“Among some of the people we monitor at grassroots level, for example, the loans have enabled them to send their children to school, build a house and expand their businesses. That is what we have seen,” he said.
Ferry said the government also monitored changes in borrowers’ incomes and business growth to assess the effect of programme lending on public welfare.
For that reason, expanding MSMEs’ access to finance remains a government priority, given the sector’s substantial contribution to the national economy.
