MRT Seeks Investor to Develop Lebak Bulus 'Park and Ride' Area

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT MRT Jakarta will conduct market sounding to seek investors to participate in the development of ‘Park and Ride’ parking facilities for passengers with vehicles near the Lebak Bulus station in Cilandak, South Jakarta.

“Following this, the planning will be finalised by the MRT team, after which market sounding will be conducted to find investors to undertake the construction,” said South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo after inspecting the Lebak Bulus ‘Park and Ride’ area in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Syafrin stated that PT MRT Jakarta is currently completing the planning phase for the development of the area surrounding the initial station of the Jakarta MRT.

According to him, the development of the Lebak Bulunas area is highly strategic as it serves as the starting station of the Jakarta MRT, acting as a transport hub for residents from southern Jakarta and its surrounding areas.

The South Jakarta City Government, along with the Jakarta Transportation Agency, PT MRT Jakarta, and special staff to the Governor, have directly inspected the area to ensure the development plan is integrated with the surrounding environment.

He explained that the area’s development does not only focus on transport functions but is also directed towards creating good connectivity with various community activities.

“Every development in this area is fully integrated with the environment. It is not just viewed from a transport function perspective, but how the transport function integrates with the area, so that the mobility of the entire community is seamless,” said Syafrin.

The development of the Lebak Bulus ‘Park and Ride’ is in line with the programme of Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung as an effort to encourage the public to switch from private vehicles to public transport.

With the availability of adequate park and ride locations, the public can park their vehicles in the Lebak Bulus area and then continue their journey using the MRT or Transjakarta towards the city centre.

The development of the area is also expected to support the creation of an urban environment that is more orderly, comfortable, and user-friendly for the public.
