MRT Seeks Investor to Develop Lebak Bulus 'Park and Ride' Area

PT MRT Jakarta will conduct a market sounding exercise to seek investors for the development of the park and ride facility area near the Lebak Bulus station in Cilandak, South Jakarta. “After this, the planning will be finalised by our MRT colleagues, then a market sounding will be conducted to find investors to carry out the construction,” said South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo after inspecting the Lebak Bulus Park and Ride area on Tuesday. Syafrin stated that PT MRT Jakarta is currently finalising the planning stage for the development of the area around the initial MRT Jakarta station. He noted that the development of the Lebak Bulus area is highly strategic as it serves as the starting station for the MRT, functioning as a transport node for residents from southern Jakarta and its surrounding areas. The South Jakarta City Administration, together with the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, PT MRT Jakarta, and the governor’s special staff, have directly inspected the area to ensure the development plan is integrated with the surrounding environment. He explained that the area’s development will not only focus on its transport function but will also be directed towards creating good connectivity with various community activities. “Every development in this area is fully integrated with the environment. It is not just seen from the transport function, but how the transport function is integrated with the area, so that all community mobility moves seamlessly,” Syafrin said. The development of the Lebak Bulus Park and Ride aligns with the programme of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung as an effort to encourage the public to switch from private vehicles to public transport. With an adequate park and ride location available, residents can park their vehicles in the Lebak Bulus area and then continue their journey to the city centre using the MRT or Transjakarta. The area’s development is also expected to support the creation of a more orderly, comfortable, and friendly urban environment for the community.
