MRT records 567,000 passengers utilising Rp1 fare for Jakarta's 499th anniversary
PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) recorded that approximately 567,633 passengers utilised its services and took advantage of the special Rp1 fare during the celebration of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary on 22, 27, and 28 June 2026. “We extend our utmost appreciation to the public, both from within and outside the city, who chose to use public transport to enliven the Jakarta Anniversary celebrations,” said PT MRT Jakarta Director of Operations and Maintenance Mega Tarigan in Jakarta on Wednesday. In detail, on the first day, no fewer than 202,861 customers used the MRT Jakarta, followed by 195,545 customers on the second day and 169,227 customers on the third day. Mega stated that this enthusiasm reflects the public’s trust in MRT Jakarta services and other public transport modes as a safe, comfortable, and reliable mobility option. She assessed that this trust serves as motivation for MRT Jakarta to continuously improve service quality and strengthen intermodal integration to deliver an increasingly better travel experience for all users. “As a Regional-Owned Enterprise of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, MRT Jakarta remains committed to providing international-standard services to support Jakarta as a Global City,” she said. In addition to the high ridership, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) also noted that the favourite travel relations, or customer origin-destination stations, were Blok M BCA Station and Dukuh Atas BNI Station. Both stations are integrated with other public transport modes and surrounding buildings. Beyond the integration factor, the high usage of these two stations was also influenced by connectivity with feeder services, the organisation of various lifestyle programmes, and diverse events. This favourite relation indicates that the Dukuh Atas area, which has developed as an intermodal integration node for mobility to and from Jakarta, and the Blok M area, which is growing as a centre of urban community activity, are becoming increasingly popular destinations.
