Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) will prepare traffic engineering in connection with the revitalisation work on the area at Bundaran HI Bank Jakarta Station to become a multifunctional space (extended concourse) and a new entrance or entre (entrance). “Traffic engineering management will be carried out on the western side of Jalan M.H. Thamrin in the pavement area. One bicycle lane and part of the main road lane will be occupied by work fences, so the traffic, which originally consisted of 1 bicycle lane, 3 regular lanes, and 1 Transjakarta lane, will become three mixed traffic lanes,” said the Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Rendy Primartantyo, in his statement on Monday. Rendy explained that the implementation period will start from Friday (10/4) until Saturday (30/5). The multifunctional space and new entrance project is part of the development of underground circulation and opens up potential interconnectivity with commercial areas. “In its planning, a multifunctional space and an additional three new entrees will be built, namely two entrees on the west side of the station and one entre on the east side of the station,” he said. Then, two entrees will be equipped with stairs and escalators, while one entre will have an elevator leading to the pedestrian area on the left and right sides of Jalan M.H. Thamrin. The area will later be accessible via the lift at the Bundaran HI Transjakarta Shelter. In addition to the multifunctional space and new entre, a cooling and ventilation tower will also be built. “Its completion is targeted for mid-2027,” he said. Rendy explained that this development aims to make Bundaran HI Bank Jakarta Station a transit-oriented area centre that promotes interconnectivity with surrounding buildings, in line with the transit-oriented development principles championed by PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda). “Bundaran HI Bank Jakarta Station, which is 18 metres deep below ground level, is one of the busiest stations in Phase 1 of the North-South Line, with an average of around 450-500 thousand passengers every month,” he said. Rendy added that the number is predicted to continue increasing if Phase 2A of the North-South Line Segment 1 from Bundaran HI to Monas starts operating. “The construction of the multifunctional space and new entre is a preparation for the operation of Phase 2A Segment 2 to the City, targeted for 2029,” he said.
