Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that the progress of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A construction, namely from Bundaran HI to Kota Tua, has now reached 59.7%.”If viewed overall, the progress is now at 59.7%,” Pramono said at City Hall in Jakarta on Tuesday. After inspecting the project with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Pramono explained that the MRT Phase 2A project is targeted to enter the commissioning or trial phase in mid-2027.After that, the MRT route is targeted to begin operations up to Harmoni at the latest by the end of 2027.Meanwhile, Pramono said the MRT line up to Kota Tua is targeted for completion by the end of 2029.”Once this main route from North to South spanning 22.2 kilometres is finished, it will be fully completed in 2029,” Pramono stated. In addition to continuing the North-South MRT project, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also working on the East-West MRT project.Pramono hopes that the first segment of the East-West MRT can be enjoyed by the public in 2030 if all processes run smoothly.During the inspection, he also highlighted the construction of stations in the Sawah Besar and Mangga Besar areas, which are the deepest construction points, reaching approximately 28 metres underground.”Because those in Sawah Besar and Mangga Besar are the deepest stations, about 28 metres down, the construction work is naturally more extensive compared to other areas,” Pramono remarked. He also appreciated the thousands of workers involved in the project, all of whom are Indonesian labourers.”What is encouraging is that the 3,800 people working there are all Indonesians. This proves that our best sons and daughters, when given the opportunity, can deliver extraordinary results,” Pramono expressed.
