MRT Phase 2 Project Alters Traffic Flow in Harmoni–Mangga Besar
JAKARTA — Motorists traversing the Harmoni to Mangga Besar area should prepare for traffic diversions as MRT Jakarta Phase 2 construction continues. The latest traffic engineering measures have been introduced to support underground station work and MRT tunnels in the area. Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta (Persero), Rendy Primartantyo, asked the public to understand the situation and to follow the directions of the officers during the works. ‘We also hope road users and public transport operators will pay attention to the signs and follow the instructions of the on-site officers,’ he said. The extension of the measures is due to ongoing construction activity, including excavation, station works, the construction of an underpass canal, and the MRT station entrance. In this phase, vehicles heading to Jalan Hasyim Ashari and towards the City will be diverted using a contra-flow scheme on Jalan Hayam Wuruk with two lanes. Meanwhile, traffic from Jalan Hayam Wuruk towards Monas will be maintained at three lanes as normal. In this phase, several traffic flow changes are made around Simpang Harmoni and Jalan Gajah Mada to support MRT Phase 2 works. - Vehicles from Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Suryopranoto, and Jalan Ir H Juanda towards Jalan Hasyim Ashari and towards the City will be directed via Jalan Gajah Mada with two lanes. - The section of Jalan Gajah Mada after the junction with Jalan Hasyim Ashari, which was previously two-way, will be changed to one-way toward the City. - Vehicles heading to the City, especially Transjakarta buses, will be diverted via Jalan Hayam Wuruk using a one-lane contra-flow. - The Jalan Hayam Wuruk toward Monas section will not undergo changes in traffic flow.
