MRT Jakarta to Develop Fatmawati Station
PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) plans to develop the Fatmawati Station area into a multifunctional space, much like the extended concourse currently being developed at the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) Station.
“In fact, for the Fatmawati Station area, we have already conducted a feasibility study. Ideally, we will develop this area into a commercial zone, similar to the extended concourse at Bundaran HI,” said MRT Jakarta’s Director of Business Development, Farchad Mahfud, during the 2026 Journalist Forum in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Farchad stated that the state-owned enterprise is currently refining the feasibility study for the project using a distinct approach. He noted that the development of the Fatmawati MRT Station area requires meticulous planning due to its location on Jalan TB Simatupang, South Jakarta, which is characterised by high density and significant traffic congestion. “It is a very crowded and congested area. We do not want to be reckless in its development,” he added.
He further explained that the company is currently undergoing a creative financing process, which may involve third-party investors to ensure the area is developed in an integrated manner to add new commercial spaces in Fatmaforetti. He added that the potential development area around Fatmawati Station is quite large, nearly equivalent to the extended concourse currently under construction in the underground area of Bundaran HI.
Meanwhile, the President Director of MRT Jakarta, Tuhiyat, aims to officially inaugurate the operational extended concourse at Bundaran HI Station in June 2027, coinciding with the 500th anniversary of Jakarta. Tuhiyat stated that the facility will expand the underground pedestrian area, connecting Bundaran HI MRT Station with Plaza Indonesia, Wisma Nusantara, and the Astra Bundaran HI Bus Stop. “In June 2027, coinciding with the 500th anniversary of Jakarta, we will inaugurate the operational extended concourse at Bundaran Hotel Indonesia Station. This will expand the underground pedestrian network, specifically for the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia Station area,” said Tuhiyat.
