MRT Jakarta Tenders Construction Packages for East-West Line
PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is currently conducting a tender process for a number of construction work packages for the East-West line project, which will connect Medan Satria (Bekasi) to Tomang, West Jakarta.
“We are currently building the East-West line, Medan Satria-Tomang, and bidding is now underway to construct several work packages,” said MRT Jakarta Director of Business Development Farchad Mahfud during the inauguration of the Blok A Visa MRT Station on Tuesday.
Farchad stated that the East-West line project is being carried out in parallel with the north-south line extension towards Kota. He explained that one of the prepared work packages involves constructing the underground section from the Bank Indonesia intersection area, Thamrin-Kebon Sirih, towards the area known as Kwitang-Senen.
In addition to track construction, MRT Jakarta is also preparing the construction of a depot in the East Jakarta area as part of the East-West line development. Meanwhile, construction of the MRT north-south line extension towards Kota has currently reached approximately 63 percent. The route is targeted to provide MRT services to Kota by 2029.
MRT Jakarta’s on-time performance has been recorded at 99.9 percent. This performance is part of MRT Jakarta’s efforts to encourage the public to switch from private vehicles to public transport. Beyond developing the transportation network, MRT Jakarta is also developing areas through creative financing schemes without relying on regional or state budget funding.
The list of stations along the East-West MRT Jakarta line includes Kembangan, Batu Mulia, Teknologi, Kebon Jeruk, Tanjung Duren, Arjuna Selatan, Tomang, Grogol, Roxy, Petojo, Cideng, Thamrin, Kebon Sirih, Kwitang, Senen, Galur, Cempaka Baru, Sumur Batu, Pakulonan Barat, Pakulonan Timur, Perintis, Pulogadung, Penggilingan, Cakung Barat, Pulo Gebang, Ujung Menteng, and Medan Satria. The East-West line is planned to be operational by 2031, with an estimated daily ridership target of 284,000 people.
