MRT Jakarta Targets Thamrin and Monas Stations to Operate Simultaneously by End of 2027

PT MRT Jakarta has confirmed that the public will not have to wait much longer for the expansion of services to the Monas area. The company is targeting the Thamrin and Monas stations to begin serving passengers simultaneously by the end of 2027 as part of the MRT Phase 2A segment from the HI Roundabout to Monas.

Director of Construction at MRT Jakarta, Weni Maulina, explained that construction work on the CP201 package is now in its final stages. The current focus is on completing the mechanical, electrical, and architectural works, as well as the finishing process before the operational phase begins.

“Alhamdulillah, for the Monas station we are already at 93 percent. So just a little more, God willing, next year we will finish and it will be ready to operate up to the Monas station,” Weni said at the MRT Monas project site on Wednesday (22/7/2026).

MRT Jakarta has ensured that the operational schedules of the two stations will not be separated. Once all work is complete, Thamrin and Monas stations will open simultaneously, extending the service from the HI Roundabout towards the National Monument area.

“(Thamrin Station) God willing, we will complete it by the end of 2027,” Weni added.

Operational preparations are also being carried out in parallel at both stations. This ensures that the public can immediately enjoy the extended service without having to wait for one station to be finished before the other. “God willing, it will be simultaneous with Thamrin and Monas, a single operation, a single opening,” Weni stated.

The Monas MRT Station is targeted to begin operations and serve passengers by the end of 2027, following a trial run from the HI Roundabout planned for June 2027. Current work is focused on completing the ceilings, ramp access, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations. The pavements around the construction area are also being reorganised for pedestrian comfort. The Monas station will feature a travelator in a corridor approximately 175 metres long, connecting the entrance to the main concourse area.
