MRT Jakarta Sets Rp1 Fare for City's 499th Anniversary Today

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is implementing a special fare of Rp1 for passengers on 22, 27, and 28 June to support the 499th Anniversary of DKI Jakarta. “We are applying a special Rp1 fare for MRT Jakarta passengers on 22, 27, and 28 June,” said PT MRT Jakarta President Director Tuhiyat in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday. The policy is enacted based on Decree of the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency Number 102 of 2026 concerning the Provision of Free Public Transport Services and/or Rp1 Fare in the Context of the 499th Anniversary Celebration of the City of Jakarta. The Rp1 fare applies to all MRT Jakarta journeys on those dates in accordance with provisions set by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Tuhiyat added that MRT Jakarta is committed to supporting public transport service integration and realising a sustainable urban mobility system. “We hope this momentum can further increase public interest in switching to public transport,” he said. With more residents using public transport, everyone contributes to creating a more connected, efficient, and environmentally friendly Jakarta. MRT Jakarta urges all passengers to continue complying with regulations and maintaining shared comfort while using the service. The DKI Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that MRT Jakarta passenger numbers increased year-on-year in March 2026. The number of MRT passengers in March 2026 was recorded at 3.49 million people, up 9.03 percent year-on-year, but down 3.45 percent compared to the previous month. Conversely, the number of MRT journeys in March 2026 reached 7,911 trips, an increase of 9.73 percent compared to February 2026, but a decrease of 1.89 percent compared to March 2025.
