MRT Jakarta prepares seven TOD projects for sustainable urban development
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is preparing seven projects across six Transit Oriented Development (TOD) locations to foster sustainable urban areas.
“In line with the TOD development mandate from the Governor of DKI Jakarta, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is preparing seven projects in six TOD locations,” said Farchad Mahfud, Director of Business Development at PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
During the Indonesia-Japan Infrastructure and Transportation Forum and Business Matching 2026 in Tokyo, Japan, Farchad detailed the projects, which include Kali Besar Heritage, XGL Mixed-Use, Ultimate Development Blok M, Lebak Bulus Park and Ride, Thamrin Asset Development, Extended Concourse Bundaran HI, and the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck.
Farchad stated that these projects focus on property development and interconnection to create integrated and sustainable urban areas. He also outlined several investment potentials related to the development of transit-oriented areas in Jakarta.
In his presentation, he highlighted several transit facilities constructed by PT MRT Jakarta (Perserdo) and its partners between 2019 and 2026. There are 14 infrastructure projects currently being developed under the TOD concept that have been built by MRT Jakarta and its partners, such as the pedestrianisation of the Kendal Tunnel, which was previously a motorised vehicle route, and the revitalisation of pavements along Jalan Sudirman and M.H. Thamrin.
Other developments include the construction of the Dukuh Atas multi-purpose pedestrian bridge, which connects the LRT Jabodebek Dukuh Atas BSI Station and the KCI Sudirman Station, as well as the Dukuh Atas Transport Hub.
Several topics were discussed during the forum, such as government support through policy and regulatory frameworks, as well as investor perspectives on financing infrastructure projects. No fewer than 50 representatives from 36 companies and institutions from Japan attended the forum.
The Indonesia–Japan Infrastructure and Transportation Business Forum and Business Matching 2026, organised by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian Embassy, aims to promote curated strategic investment projects from State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and Regional State-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), while bringing project owners together with potential investors, financial institutions, and strategic partners from Japan.
This year, the Indonesian delegation presented strategic projects from five sectors: toll roads and highways, ports and logistics, railways and TOD, property, and steel fabrication facilities. PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) participated alongside representatives from several other state-owned enterprises.
The forum is expected to drive investment realisation, meet capital expenditure (capex) requirements, and develop mutually beneficial business cooperation.
In addition to participating in the forum, the Indonesian delegation also had the opportunity to conduct a comparative study of a development built using the transit-oriented concept, specifically the Takanawa Gateway area, where mixed-use development is directly connected to Takanawa Station.
