MRT Jakarta Phase 2A Northbound Tunnel Fully Connected from Bundaran HI to Kota

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) has fully connected the northbound tunnel of Phase 2A, spanning 5.8 kilometres from Bundaran HI Bank Jakarta Station to Kota Station. The achievement was marked by a breakthrough of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) 1 at Mangga Besar Station, at a depth of 28 metres below ground. The TBM 1 was responsible for constructing the 395-metre stretch between Harmoni and Sawah Besar stations, as well as the 800-metre section from Sawah Besar to Mangga Besar, navigating a technical challenge of boring beneath a canal between Jalan Gajah Mada and Jalan Hayam Wuruk. Overall physical progress for MRT Jakarta Phase 2A has reached 61.8 percent. The construction team is now focused on completing the southbound tunnel, with the entire tunnelling work for Phase 2A projected to be finished by the fourth quarter of 2026.
