MRT Jakarta Optimises Signalling System After Sudden Braking Incident

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) has ensured the safety of travel between Senayan Mastercard Station and ASEAN Headquarters Station by continuously optimising its signalling system.

This measure follows an incident where a train braked suddenly while ascending the track towards ASEAN Headquarters Station recently. “MRT Jakarta’s signalling system is equipped with various safety features designed to ensure every journey proceeds safely,” said Rendy Primartantyo, Head of Corporate Secretary at PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), in Jakarta on Friday.

Rendy stated that MRT Jakarta, alongside relevant parties, is currently conducting comprehensive inspections, monitoring, and handling to ensure the signalling system can return to optimal functionality on that specific route.

Alongside these efforts, MRT Jakarta continues to optimise its systems to enhance service reliability and passenger comfort. “We understand that this situation may affect passenger travel comfort. Therefore, MRT Jakarta is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and will provide further updates through official communication channels as new information becomes available,” he added.

MRT Jakarta also expressed its apologies for the inconvenience experienced by passengers on the Senayan Mastercard to ASEAN Headquarters route, including feedback received via the Contact Centre and social media.

“We appreciate the public’s understanding and trust in MRT Jakarta,” he said.

Via the social media platform X, several MRT Jakarta passengers raised complaints regarding the train braking suddenly during the ascent towards ASEAN Headquarters Station. Additionally, passengers noted that the train doors at Blok M closed prematurely before passengers could board.
